Best gluten free and vegan options ever. Have not had a better pizza since giving up dairy.
Also the staff is amazing.
Will be returning forever.

Diners, Drive Ins, and Drives as well as the Greek place across the street.
Beer. Pizza. Other food but come on, pizza and beer! Sometimes the wait times can REALLY suck. Otherwise this is a sweet place.
Bring your friends. Family. Anyone from out of town. It's at a great spot on Tennyson. First Friday? Stop over before or after.
Great rotating beer selection. Pizza. Sandwiches. Etc. Vegan and vegetarian options. Local ingredients, it's not farm to table but really fresh. As much made from scratch as possible.
Beer reasonably priced. Local and out of state beers. Table seating or bar seating. They have a good system for texting you when a table is ready. But come at the wrong time and you could face a fifty to hour thirty wait. Still worth the wait if you can hang around.
Would definitely try and make a reservation or stop in at a lull time to experience this magic.

I had always heard lots of hype about Hops & Pie but my first experience a couple of years ago was a disappointment. Not terrible, just not great. 3 stars. After two years, I came back a second time hoping that they were just having an off day but I was even more disappointed this time. We waited a long time for our pizza. They were busy so that was fine but when our pizza came out, it was completely burnt. The bottom was solid black and the crust was black all the way around. I was shocked that the waitress even served it to us that way but she set it down and walked away. I am not someone to complain or send food back (I will eat pretty much anything and it really bothers me to waste food) but this was not edible. We called her over and showed her the pizza and she just stared at us for a minute and said "So do you want me to get you another one?" It seemed that she couldn't believe we would have the audacity to want an edible pizza. There was no offer to bring an appetizer while we waited and she made us feel like it was our problem. When the second pizza came out, I was so shocked to see that it was also burnt. At this point, I was so upset about the food being wasted and the deplorable service that we decided to leave rather than have them make a third attempt. The manager came by and told us that we would only be charged half-price for the pizza. Seriously! Not a great deal for a terrible experience and a non-edible pizza!! We had to spend money to waste 1.5 hours and ultimately go eat somewhere else. I looked around and NO other pizzas had black edges, so I'm not sure what happened with us but it felt very bizarre.
On a positive note, they do have a good beer selection. But then again, you're in Denver so most places do.
It looks like lots of people have amazing experiences here so I'm sad to have missed the chance to enjoy somewhere that I would typically love (pizza and beer are a couple of my favorite things). I completely understand that things happen and pizzas get burned but the unacceptable part to me was the extremely rude, condescending service. I hope by now they have a different manager or that the manager has learned a thing or two in customer service.

Holy smokes... perfect blend of local brews and killer food. So far, I've had the Reuben, the IPA Mac & Cheese, this Krunchwrap thing... point is it's all straight fire! It's in trendy part of town so pretty safe unless you consider hipsters threatening. The craft beer selection is overhauled every few days it seems which is great if you consider yourself a hop head!
The service was great the last time with a dude named Frankie... the last time I sat at the bar and got so so type service... regardless of that, I'll be back and shout it out on the Gil List.

This place is fabulous. We arrived in Denver this afternoon and decided to eat here this evening. We were seated quickly facing out the window which was cute. The beer menu is fairly large with many local Colorado breweries on the list.
My fiancé and I ordered a 10 inch pizza to split and the artisan sandwich of the week, and it was perfect! We ordered the pizza with house made mozzarella, prosciutto and arugula. So delicious, and the pizza was bigger than I expected. The tomato sauce was different, and I really liked it. The sandwich was a duck confit sandwich with applewood bacon, red onion jam, fontina, Gouda & sautéed arugula. Absolutely to die for. This was the first time I'd ever eaten duck, and it was incredible. One of the side options for the sandwich was potato salad, and it was so mustardy and dill-y. Loved it!
All in all, the service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the food was phenomenal. We spent $33 before tip on food & 1 beer which really isn't bad at all, in my opinion. If we lived here, we would be regulars! Definitely check this place out!!

Absolutely fire. Get the Duck Sausage before its gone . I'd kiss the cook but it looks like a bunch of dudes back there. Shout out to Anna for the recommendation and the great service. I'll be back real quick

YUM!!! This spot is located on a super cute and hip street, FYI, as there will probably be a wait at Hops if you go during prime hours, so you'll need a stroll. On the plus side, you can, amazingly, track your position in the queue online with a special link they send you.
They offer a pie of the month and a slice of the day, as well as sandwiches they are well-known for. I was surprised they didn't have any other pre-conceived pie choices, but this was really not a problem because they have an abundant selection of meat, cheese and other topping options like berry BBQ.
The pie of the month was INCREDIBLE!! It was an Indian green curry chicken pizza which I have never encountered the likes of. It was enormous- we couldn't finish it between two people even though we were famished. Also it was $21 which seemed more than reasonable!
The beer menu of bottles and cans comes in a BONA FIDE Trapper Keeper- loved it. Good selection of drafts as well, but there were a few too many normal beers like Racer Five.
The service was friendly- they checked on us multiple times but were not overbearing. In fact I think it would be a great place to work.

This is hands down my favorite pizza restaurant in Denver. The pizza is amazing and they always have a unique slice of the day. They also have an IPA mac and cheese that is seriously the best mac and cheese I have ever had.
Hops & Pie also has a great tap list of local Colorado craft beer and beer from some of the great out of state breweries. They update their tap list every day and they offer tasters of all of their beers. Also on their beer menu is a list of rare bottles you can open on site.
If you are a beer nerd and enjoy pizza, this is the spot for you.

Just driving through and grabbed a pear salad that reviewers suggested. Polite staff, efficient, food was yummy but expected more from the avid fans.

I totally loved the neighborhood that Hops & Pie was located in (Berkeley neighborhood) and I loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. I could tell that this was a very popular and hip place and I totally understand why. I mean, I would go there regularly if I lived nearby. This restaurant specializes in craft beer (rotate unique/rare craft beers from their 22 taps) and artisan pizza with the dough made with a 50/50 beer/water mix.
Because we were at a pizza place, I had to try the pizza! Hops & Pie offers vegan pizza alternatives including daiya cheese, house made Sicilian sausage, and house smoked tofu. They also have a long list of vegetable toppings: green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, arugula, dollops of mash potatoes, sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, roasted garlic cloves, broccoli, pineapple, jalapeno, basil and banana peppers. I limited my options because they were $1.80 each. I ended up getting spinach, caramelized onions, roasted garlic cloves, pineapple and tofu. There are so many other combinations to try out! I have been vegan most of my life so I never really ate cheese and didn't feel a need to have it on my pizza, but it is awesome that they have a vegan option available.
My friend (also vegan) used to eat meat and cheese so she was more drawn to comfort food that she remembers eating. She ordered the vegan macaroni and cheese (sauteed mushrooms, peas, miso, elbow macaroni and spices) and a Vegan Sloppy Jane (tempeh). She enjoyed hers, but I think it was a little to fatty, fried and filling for her. The sloppy jane could of used a sauce on it and I personally would of wanted some sort of fresh vegetables on it so that it wasn't just "meat" and a bun. However, I do know that they typically are just meat and bread. Not really my kind of thing I suppose.
I really like fining places like Hops & Pie that specialize in foods such as smoked meat, but that still offer a variety of tasty vegan options. If I lived nearby, we would totally be regulars here.

For a casual visit at a friend's place, he recommended ordering from Hops & Pie for the evening. Specialty pie of the month, a cheese pizza, and the specialty sandwich did the trick for 3 of us with plenty of leftovers. Both pizzas had a nice and light but crispy crust, appropriate amounts of topping and pie to topping coverage ratio was spot on.
I'd definitely come back to H&P. With a new sandwich special every week and a new crafted pizza special every month, there's certainly always a reason to pop in.

I was in the neighborhood and I'd been meaning to try this place because it came highly recommended. The soup was my favorite, potato. So my colleague and I went there and she got the sandwich special and I got soup and a personal pie.
So the soup was not bad, it was just a little salty for me. It was still pretty good, but my colleague agreed that there was a bit too much salt. So I ordered a pizza with their house-made chorizo and house-made sausage and, again, it was far too salty. I'm aware that I ordered salty meats, but there was still too much of it.
For what it's worth, my colleague liked her sandwich. She also ordered a beer that she didn't like and they were kind enough to take it off our bill (that's why they get the 3rd star). I'm not sure I'd go back, I just didn't enjoy it much.

We came here the other night for dinner ..and it was very very crowded! I guess that's good for them but it was crazy loud ..we ended up getting lucky and got seats at the bar (because it was an hour half wait )...but It was so crowded people were basically on top of each other ..and the kids next to us were getting white girl wasted ...so we order the Mac and cheese and a deep dish pizza...the Mac was so delicious and the pizza came out and it was pretty good..actually the pizza was 10 times better the next day so there's that !
The 3 stars was that the the food was good but the ambiance was not welcoming ..for me anyway ..
The lay out was kinda funky and maybe it was just a crazy night ...I just like to hear my conversations with the person I'm dining with ..
Maybe I'll try I again some day
But for now that's my honest opinion !
Try it and see how you feel !
Thanks anyway !

Definitely a go-to, on-the-rotation, I-occasionally-crave-this kinda place. Amazing beer selection, scratch made everything... just can't go wrong at Hops & Pie.
Beer list constantly changes, 100% craft, not cheap. BUT! 3oz pours are $2-$3, so it's often just as economical to try a bunch of random beers as it is to commit to one 8-10oz pour (yeah yeah, I have commitment issues). For food, I love the Italian sub, and sometimes hard-core crave this thing. All of their sandwiches are great tbh, and the chicken & pear salad is money as well....so many pine nuts makes it worth the cost alone.
I haven't actually gotten their pizza because I know I'll eat the whole damned thing. If you like arugula, H&P is your jam because they will absolutely douche your pie in greenery.
Seriously, if you're reading this, read no more. Must, go, now.

Rarely does my husband obsess about food, but he has been raving to me about their Italian sandwich and this past weekend he *needed* to have one and I was happy to go along for the ride!
First, we didn't realize they don't open until 2pm on Sundays...what!?! So we killed time and came back to realize there was a line out the door!! Once we got in, we were quoted 45 minutes to be seated, which was pretty accurate and gave us time to grab a drink across the street. Their wait system is super cool so you can not only get a text notification but can track your place on the list online.
Once it was time to be seated, it was a great experience!! Our server was darling. The food was spectacular! That Italian sandwich was every bit as rave worth as my husband made it out to be. We had started with their garlic cheesebread, and it was a layer of melted cheese over cream cheese- swoon! We also had a pizza that was delicious, but probably not good enough to get me back. The Italian sandwich will definitely bring me back though! Great beer list. And because experiences are often made by the little touches, we really appreciated when the chef sent our waitress out to ask if it was ok to use olive oil on our daughter's noodles- she doesn't like butter, but the thoughtfulness of asking about using a little oil so the noodles didn't stick was above and beyond.
Overall, a very enjoyable meal. Bummed that my friend and I were on a time limit to get to an appointment, but if not, we could have easily killed more time enjoying another beer because by the time we left close to 4pm, the restaurant was almost empty.

I wouldn't say Denver is a "pizza town", but I enjoyed this place nonetheless. Almost everybody suggested Hops & Pie when we inquired about places to get food (& beer), so it was pretty high on our list.
I think we could have made a better decision as far as toppings on our pizza, but it was still quite good. Not best pizza I've ever had, but I'm from Chicago, so most cities can't live up to that standard when it comes to pizza. What stood out most was the IPA Mac & Cheese. I could have this and some beers and be perfectly content.
They seem to get a pretty solid selection of local and non-local craft beers. Unfortunately after touring breweries all day, the focal point was food, so I didn't take advantage of the beer list as much as I normally would've.
Solid option for a beer & bite. Would definitely come back.

We loved our experience! Great service, great vibe, great food. If you don't enjoy it, there's something wrong with you.

Food: 4.5 of 5.0
Service 5.0 of 5.0
Environment 4.0 of 5.0
Food was good, but refrain from becoming the chef and creating your own pizza. The pizza menu options are delicious and for a reason. Their chefs know which flavors compliment each other.
The place is a bit on the noisy side so be prepared to speak up! Other than that, service was phenomenal and the Mac & Cheese is a must order!

Hops and Pie is a great spot. However, they don't take reservations and often have a long wait, which often prevents me and my friends from visiting. I wish they would take reservations for parties of 6 or more, at the very least.
I came here with a friend. It was $2 craft can night, which was awesome. They bring the beers in a koozie - I love it. We ordered the pear salad and it was almost better than the pizza (but it can't be because it's a salad). We would definitely order it again. We ordered a pizza with jalapenos, ham, pineapple, and peppers. It was an odd combo, but we nailed it.
Great spot, will come again if I don't have to wait.

Good beer and food. Also great music!
