Jack's American Pub reviews

Our daughter recommended Jack's for happy hour and we gladly went. We sat at the bar and had drink specials and there was $2 off appetizers (starting at 2). We had what she recommended - the Steak Tenderloin Sliders and they were enough for the both of us. 3 great sliders with lots of fries with beers on sale. What could be wrong?

We saw other specials and plan on being back.

Great place on Brady Street for some good quality.

Bad service. We sat outside and while there was nothing going on we had to go find a waiter. Botched my drink order and the bill. Left us dry after first round of drinks. The food was excessively dripping in grease beyond bar food standards.
And oh yeahhh they made us wait 15 minutes before even taking the food order.
Lastly, we ordered drinks during happy hour but didn't get it counted as happy hour.
Never again.

My friends love Jack's. It's probably the fact that you can get a free pizza with your beer during happy hour, but I just think it's A-OK. I've been here for happy hour. I've been here for trivia. I've been here on a late night. It's fine establishment, but it's no place I beg to come to.

However, as a plus, they do offer a shuttle to Miller Park.

I love going to this place before Brewer games. They have awesome drink specials and with the purchase of a beverage you get a wrist band to ride the bus to Miller Park.

Bonus: they have a cooler on the bus so you can get one last beer and/or shot before your destination.

Was assigned to this place during one of our dinner ride alongs at our Pabst meeting last week. Gotta say, I'm glad I ended up here vs any of the other spots.

They reserved the space upstairs for us and the food was served buffet style. (Personally, I've never been a huge fan of buffet serving. I'll take it, but not my preference). Either way, our selections included: salad, artichoke dip, mac and cheese, brisket, pulled pork, and fried chicken. Pretty standard stuff.

Might have also been because I was starving but Jack's brisket....man o man. Some of the best I've ever had. Soft, juicy melt in your mouth strips of brisket. I probably ate twice my body weight of it. Mac and cheese was filled with Wisconsin cheese goodness with bread crumbs offered a crispy texture. Same story with the artichoke dip, warm cheesy goodness on the inside.

Can't speak on behalf of the other items offered but if I ever make it back to Jack's, brisket I'll be coming for you.

Honestly I love their burgers. The Maui Wowie burger is one the best burger I ever had. It come with pineapple and it's delicious. The place is friendly, the ambiance good and the service is great.

Jacks is a pretty typical sports bar in my opinion. If you want standard pizza, burgers, beer and sports then you'll be happy here. I typically only come here to watch a game. Come early if it's a popular sporting event. It gets busy and there will be standing room only. I watched badgers play a couple games in the ncaa basketball tournament here last here and it was really fun but impossible to get a drink. On a typical night service is good. Food is typical bar food. Nothing amazing but not bad.

I love this bar; it is one of my favorite bars in Milwaukee. So much fun, great food, and a good atmosphere all around. HOWEVER the bartender, who is male with short dirty blonde hair, was so awful to me. We lost a game of bar dice, which was fine. I was willing to buy the round of shots that was whiskey EXCEPT I don't like whiskey. So I kindly asked, "can my friends get the whiskey and you give me something else?" He responds, "No, unless you want to pay more for it!" Really sir??? Is a shitty shot of vodka not worth the same as the whiskey you're giving out? Absolutely unacceptable. Terrible customer service. Good luck in life with that horrible attitude sir!

I'm definitely a fan of this place!

The inside reminds an Irish bar (dark, wood interior) meets sports bar (a lot of TVs around the bar).

The waitstaff is friendly. Loved playing bar dice with them. And, they were very attentive. Didn't have to wait long for drinks.

The food is very good bar food, too! Typical menu items like wings, cheese curds, wraps, sandwiches, salads.

This bar is OK, kind of young and college-y BUT the bouncer tried to bend my id in half to try to prove it was fake- it's not ... Took his job a little too seriously ... Never seen someone do that before ...

There are some good things about this place but also some bad things the last few times I stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat.

Pro: It is a pretty spacious place for the area. You can usually get a group of people in there to eat or have drinks. They also have lots of tvs to watch games. Even if you sit down and not at the bar you are usually not waiting that long.

Cons: Beer selection is not the best. Beer prices are high for that area and Milwaukee. $5.00 for a miller ilte, what?? I am not sure of any other places charging that much, maybe Stubby's. It is not just their beer though the alcohol prices for mix drinks are on the higher end. Also some of the bartenders, not all, will make the drinks weak.

Another issue I have is that it is a very simple sports bar. It seems like Jon Tapper from Bar Rescue came in and designed this bar. Nothing really distinguishes it from other sports bars. The decor is plain and blah, along with the overall environment.

I would suggests people at least try it out if you are in the area. Everything is worth a chance. Just for me, after a few times, I probably won't be back.

Descriptive phrase: clubby American pub.

Jack's on Brady Street varies depending on the time of day. Its scene at night is much more drunken, deaf college kids. I am not a fan. But during the day and evening it's a decent place to catch a sporting event on one of their many TVs. I came for a Badger basketball game and they were featuring free pizzas with every pitcher order. That's $9 for a pitcher of beer and a fresh pizza. Dang. Take Jack's for what it is; use it for sports and that's about it.

Welp, they dropped the good deal on trivia night.

By Leah M. at 2016-08-14

The wings were crappy. The ranch was runny, the bbq sauce didn't taste good, and half of my wings were pink inside. We'll only come for drinks next time!

By Laura M. at 2015-10-04

Lunch and dinner are really good - especially for "bar" food. Most recently went for brunch and it's like 5 and 2. The $12 pitchers of mimosas are totally 5 - both tasty and priced for a budget. The breakfast food is hmmm....below ordinary. The hash browns are close to the worst. Toast is toast. Eggs...well...the eggs don't appear cooked in a pan so like the microwave kind. Now I'm being generous on the breakfast at 2 cause the drinks help but at $10 it's a bit silly. Lunch/dinner food is awesome though so unsure why breakfast food is subpar.

They've stepped up the food game here and I now consider this place a great place to eat some scrumptious bar bites. Inside is fine but come summer grab a table outside and get ready to watch the Brady St. show!

This will be my first and last time visiting this establishment. Our experience started off good, as we got seated immediately. However, things were downhill from there. Our waitress came and took our drink orders, and then did not return. After waiting about 30 minutes, my husband decided to flag down the hostess and ask if our waitress could come back to take our meal orders. After we ordered, our appetizer and two of our entrees came out, and we assumed the 3rd entree was on its way. We were wrong, as the 3rd entree never arrived. It wasn't until we had finished the appetizer and two entrees (and waited another 45 minutes) that we realized the 3rd entree wasn't coming. Our waitress then asked us if we were ready for the check (clearing not realizing that she was missing an entree) and we decided to just pay and get out of there. The food was okay, typical bar food. The service is what will deter me from going back. You're better off going to La Masa across the street if you're looking for a restaurant in that area with good food and good service.

**gave 2 stars because the loaded tots were good, otherwise this place was barely 1 star worthy**

Jack's has good deals and decent food. Wednesday $1 burgers are huge and flavorful. On Sunday they have NFL Ticket. It's a cool open atmosphere and very easy to manuver around the bar. They have a decent drink deal every day.

So after posting about a bad experience here, the manager reached out to me and offered to compensate me for my experience and even took time out of his day to have a chat with me about my experience. He ended up giving me a gift card and I stayed for drinks and food. Their Mac & cheese grilled cheese is AMAZING and their tomato bisque even better. You can tell that the manager really cares about his customers. I will be back again. Hands down.

Jack's has great food and drinks. Their one bartender Lauren makes the best Bloody Mary's. Definitely make this a regular stop.
