Fast and delicious place for a quick lunch. We were in and out in 35 minutes without rushing and with plenty to eat. Great cheap lunch specials. They even have margaritas if it's that what your into at lunch. :-)

Had a lunch order delivered to my job from little mexico restaurant. The food arrived cold, like out of the fridge cold. I ordered two nacho supremes and and a chicken quesadilla, which had had very little cheese and the chicken inside was hard and tasted old.
The Nacho's as well as being cold, had no cheese at all on them and one of my coworkers found a large piece of metal inside hers ( nachos). I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, the prices are high and the food totally isnt worth your time.

Stopped by this place for RVA taco week during my lunch hour. We arrived a little after 1pm and were quickly seated. The restaurant wasn't too packed for lunch and the menu prices ranged from $8-12. I had the special which was the chipotle chicken nachos and a side of spanish rice. Both were legitimately good. Would definitely come back to explore the menu a little further because the food was satisfyingly flavored and i left full!

This is my go to fast Mexican place! You can't go wrong with the speedy Gonzales during lunch time! I've eaten in here and have ordered pick up. All the times my orders have been accurate and the food has been hot! Though our server last night was a little slow and didn't even check on us again once our food came out until we were basically done with our meal. The place is casual and the food is basic Mexican but good! They also give you free chips & salsa. They have specials on certain days like dollar Tacos on Mondays etc. They have a sign inside with all the days of the week specials but I didn't get a chance to take a picture. Overall, good food and lunch time prices are great!

Working at VCU, it's nice to have something close-by that is consistent and with reasonable prices. Little Mexico fits that bill nicely.
I stick with vegetarian, and they have several lunch options. The Enchiladas del Pueblo are tasty, though the cheese sauce on top sometimes is a bit too gooey, and they do a fine standard (Amercanized) Cheese Enchilada. I think their chips aren't anything to go out of your way for, but the salsa is okay.
The staff is always very nice, your orders taken quickly and your drink will get refilled. It's a good lunch choice to know you'll get in and out in a timely fashion.
Quick version: Solid choice in a sea of overrated RVA Mexican restaurants.

My husband and I had a late lunch today. We got the pollo con chorizo and 3 soft tacos. Food was wonderful. Its the best chorizo we've had. The only reason they aren't getting a 5 star rating is because I asked for lemon for my tea twice and i still never got it. Also, the bathroom was single occupancy and someone was in it the entire tim! Otherwise it was wonderful.

This is a sweet little spot, along with quick service and decent food. I appreciate the servers and the quality of what you get for the pay. I haven't experienced the takeout but there are always people waiting or coming in for their orders, so I gather it must be good.
My second time and I'm glade I found this place

I really really like Little Mexico...I am a huge fan of Mexican Food and I hate chain places that serve you over-priced food. Little Mexico has a great staff, quick service, and good Mexican food. I love their margaritas (on the rocks, no salt is the way to go).
I went last night with my boyfriend and other than being the oldest people there (it's very close to VCU) we had a great experience. We both got the lime margaritas, he got the Chili Lime Chicken Tacos which were delicious and I got the Enchiladas Verdes..which I highly recommend. When the restaurant is busy ask for a booth because the tables are set way too close together, where you feel like you are sitting with the table next to you.
I will definately be back for the chips, salsa, guacamole, and margaritas!

Little Mexico is always great especially on Mondays when tacos are only a dollar the only downside is I will make sure you specify if you want a hard or soft shell because they don't ask but either way it's great food.

So this is where all the fun college kids hang on a Tuesday night. Went to LM last night for a little impromptu (mid-week?) Margarita and apps with some friends, and wow I've never seen this place so packed! It was as if VCU was offering a 2 for 1 deal.
As per usual, service was quick, food was great! Margs on the other hand, not so much. I guess for $6.95 (jumbo marg special) you really can't expect the results of a straight shooter, but hey my mom always told me to aim high! Either way, I love this place and definitely recommend it for those looking for a laid back friendly atmosphere w/great service, and even better food.

Tried Little Mexico for the second time after being extremely disappointed couple of years ago. Tried the mixed fajita and I was very satisfied. The portions were extremely generous and tasty. I will definitely be coming back more often from now!

Little Mexico has a very convenient location, right by VCU with plenty of parking.
The quality of the food is better than most similar restaurants in the area, but the portion sizes are tiny. I had the lunch chimichanga yesterday and it was less than half the size of a typical chimichanga elsewhere. The plate was mostly filled with rice, beans and lettuce. I had to load up on chips to feel full, where at other Mexican restaurants in Richmond I can barely eat the whole entree!

Came during lunch since it is close to Vcu. I ordered the carne asada. It wasn't too busy, but the food did take a bit to come out. Overall the food was good and they had good portion sizes. I plan on coming next time to try the margaritas!

Little Mexico is great if you're in the mood for Mexican food in an affordable way and/or you really want a huge margarita. However, if you're not overly familiar with what different things on the menu are, you're screwed, since the menu explanations won't help too much and you may or may not be able to discuss it with your server.
The food is quite good, though making modifications to the menu items doesn't always work (50/50 shot). Seating is iffy, especially when busy (had to sit at one of the half-bench seats in the middle of everything else, wouldn't recommend it).
TIP: There are ALWAYS coupons somewhere for this place. Look online, or download the Valupak app for your phone. Checking in on Yelp also gets you a nice bonus too!
Overall: 3.0 stars
-Going with a coupon makes it affordable, and checking in makes it even better!
-Meal is filling, especially with unlimited chips/salsa.
-I LOVE CHEESE, this place has TONS OF CHEESE.
-White queso dip, since I love cheese (did I mention that?).
-I know it's a Mexican place, though it would sure be nice to be able to communicate with the service staff better. It adds an additional layer of complication to things.
-Trying to have a particular menu item without a certain ingredient may prove difficult half of the time.
-They sell lots of margaritas, and the taste/quality of those margaritas is what you'd expect from something produced in bulk (former bartender speaking).
-Design of the seating may result in you being in a nice booth or at a cramped half-booth, half-table. Maybe request to wait for a booth?

Really sad how my experience at Little Mexico went today. The lady who seemed to be in charge was a super huge bitch about my SERVICE animal. I showed her my prescription and she was still rude. I asked the server if there was any sort of bowl or takeout cup I could use as a dog bowl (they gave me one last time). The lady came back and said that it's my responsibility to bring my pet a dog bowl, yes this is true but last time I was here they gave me one, so I didn't think it was necessary to bring my own. Really unimpressed that this restaurant disrespect the disability community. It's really unfortunate since I've enjoyed coming to this restaurant over 10 times in the last six months. Time to find somewhere new!

Little Mexico won't wow you but they have a very nice staff and food comes out fast. Had the enchiladas Verdes, good but nearby places like Nacho Mama is tasty and comes with 3 versus the 2 enchiladas little Mexico offers. So if your hungry maybe not the best spot. Salsa is good and chip's fresh.

I think EW covers all of the bases here. I'm
all for Americanized Mexican when it is reasonably priced and flavorful. This place is neither.
I get that it's close to campus, but that's not an excuse for cafeteria-style quality. Especially not for what they charge.

I've been to my fair share of mediocre Mexican establishments and this one was very, very eh. The chips were a bit over baked and very crunch. The salsa was just alright and the cheese dip was made of an indescribable cheese cause it really just felt like glue cheese. My cheese quesadilla was made of similar cheese but not just shredded cheese which i don't particularly like. My chicken Enchilada was ok and the retried beans had no taste. Hard pass on this next time I'm in Richmond.

I just want to say something the other reviewers for this restaurant. In particular the ones that recommended Nacho Mama for being tastier than Little Mexico. You must be retarded and have been eating dog food for you natural born life. And like the smell of trash and body odors from your waiters and waitresses. I have never heard of such nonsense since George W. Bush was in office.
Anyways, this restaurant is great. A million times better than Nacho Mama. A little small but hey still great service and food.

Little Mexico is a little pricey for the quality of the food you get. I go here for the experience and not the food. I always get the chicken fajita nachos, but I'd much rather go to plaza Azteca for the same dish, for a few dollars less and way higher in quality and tastier.
Like I said though, I go here for the experience. It's local and my friends like to go and get margaritas. It's a mexi hot spot for college students. The staff are pretty friendly but sometimes inattentive. Pretty much a meh place.
